Latest Updates from Our Project:

Well, this is unusual...
over 2 years ago – Wed, Jan 26, 2022 at 03:39:24 PM

Aldabas was an odd project in a few ways, but today I'm going to talk about shipping/fulfillment.

I have been in daily conversation with our manufacturer LongPack and fulfillment coordinator QML, and late last week we realized that due to the amount of product, it actually made sense to send all non-US fulfillment via air freight. It was faster and cheaper - that NEVER happens!

I am writing this update immediately after filing the continuing e-mail chain, having found out that Aldabas for Asia fulfillment is on its way, and we are waiting for a timeline on Aetherworks for Australia/New Zealand, and GamesQuest for UK and EU.

Long story short, I think most of the world will have their Aldabas soon*, and us North Americans will have to wait, because that will travel by sea, and will be subject to all the ongoing craziness.

Have a great week!

Playfully,

Marc

* It is still possible that non-US fulfillment gets caught in the CNY shutdown, but we're trying to get out ahead of that!

Fulfillment and more!
over 2 years ago – Tue, Dec 28, 2021 at 02:08:40 AM

Today's update is going to be short and sweet. Aldabas is ready to ship, and I will be making final preparations with QML to get it moving around the world. It won't be long before you hear the knock of the courier with your game in hand. As things have continued to calm down regarding worldwide logistics - but let me tell you, not so much the prices! - I have every hope for a timely fulfillment.

What's Next?

In case you need more Guild to satisfy your gaming appetite, we have just opened preorders for The Cupid Crisis, game #4 in our Holiday Hijinks 18-card escape room series.

Games are like a box of chocolates...

Production is complete, they will be air freighted to me soon, and then into your hands for some V-day gaming with your favorite partner. Preorders are open!

I hope you had fantastic holidays with your friends and family, and happy new year!

Playfully,

Marc

Mea culpa + ⚠️ ADDRESS LOCKDOWN THIS FRI! ⚠️
over 2 years ago – Wed, Nov 17, 2021 at 10:34:45 PM

Pics or it didn't happen

A wise man once said, "Pics or it didn't happen." (That wise man might be Rodaballo. Thank you for calling me out.) Apologies that I sent out the last update in haste. Kickstarter and the internet are, after all, a visual medium. Without further ado, I present some Aldabas final production copy pics.

A hastily constructed but legal block. It would likely score very poorly.
Double-sided vault/player aid. The icons become second nature before long.
Wooden coin - KS edition only. I tried to get as close up as possible on this one without sacrificing too much resolution.

I know that the images can't provide you a sense of the tactility, but I assure you that even without linen finish, Aldabas will look, feel, sound, and most importantly, play great.

Addresses Lockdown Imminent

Wow how time flies! We are about a week out from the completion of manufacturing, and it's time to shore up those addresses in BackerKit. If you have not completed your BackerKit or have changed addresses since you did, I'll be locking down addresses by week's end. Let's get it done!

Playfully,

Marc

Production & Fulfillment
over 2 years ago – Fri, Nov 12, 2021 at 03:58:00 AM

I am back from Essen, and if you want to read about all my travel craziness, you can do so here. It was a doozie!

Mass manufacturing will be completed about 25 Nov, and I am using QML to coordinate worldwide fulfillment. We are well ahead of schedule for normal times, but these are far from normal times. I am working with QML to keep things moving forward, and as on top of the chaos and costs of fulfillment as one can be. They are constantly changing.

I have my hands on the first production copy of Aldabas, and it is fantastic. The cards are thick and snappy, the wooden coins - for KS backers - are cute and thematic. I know you are going to looove the final production.

Thank you for your support and patience, and I'll follow up when I have more for you.

Playfully,

Marc

Manufacturing Underway
over 2 years ago – Sun, Oct 10, 2021 at 03:34:53 AM

Good afternoon, everyone. It's been a bit since my last update. My sincere apologies. This condensed convention season really has my head spinning. Add to that Belgian Beers Race fulfillment and Endangered: New Species shipping woes, and the truth is that it was all a bit too much. I've not faltered. I've kept at it. But it has been tough.

Enough excuses! You want an Aldabas update, and deserve one.

Aldabas Status

Right now we have entered mass manufacturing. We are in queue at the printer for production and assembly, and once those are done I will begin the tricky business of fulfillment, guided by the awesome folks at QML. It's a bit of a game at this point, getting things done quickly but attempting to get past the end of year holiday rush and the additional charges that come with it. But all signs point towards your games being on the water to fulfillment hubs before CNY. That means we are ahead of schedule!

Other stuff

I leave for Essen on Monday, and I'll be gone for 2 weeks. I am fearful of the obstacles that the state of the world will throw in our way. My costs have already escalated on every front, but at this point it is still too costly not to go.

In the good news column, The Pumpkin Problem is for sale!

Now I'm not normally a high pressure kind of guy. And I did not even intend to put this on your radar today. But I figured since I was writing an update, I may as well drop this here. Today and tomorrow are the last days to order TPP and get it in time for your Halloween festivities. I am shipping daily, and the last batch will go out Mon. So order now!

Thanks for your patience and enthusiasm as we roll through the rest of 2021. It's been an incredible year, and continue to be grateful for your support. Have a great weekend.

Playfully,

Marc
